Many of us spend long hours each day between our papers, computers, and mobile phones, trying to complete the tasks required of us, but we forget that this behavior can lead us to become a workaholic.
The term “workaholic” was first coined in 1971 by American psychologist Wayne E. Oates in his book *Confessions of a Workaholic*.
A workaholic is referred to as someone who works compulsively or is addicted to work. There are three main characteristics of workaholics:
They spend a lot of time on work activities.
They are preoccupied with work even outside of work hours.
They work more than is expected of them to complete their tasks.
Over time, the workaholic begins to withdraw from social circles against their will as a result of the pressures that began voluntarily and have become compulsive.
