NRP Announces its 3rd Edition’s Winners

By Eman Hamed

The National Reading Programme (NRP), affiliated to the Emirate’s Research Science Institute, and in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Al Azhar Al Sharif, has announced the date for the concluding ceremony of its third edition. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, January 2nd at Al Manara International Conference Center.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Egyptian Universities, the upcoming ceremony will unveil the winners of the third edition on a national scale. This event strongly reinforces the project’s core mission: to actively encourage widespread reading engagement among students in diverse educational institutions, encompassing schools, Al-Azhar Al Sharif institutes, and universities, along with teachers. This concerted endeavor is a powerful initiative, fostering a sustained flow of knowledge throughout different societal layers, thus significantly strengthening Egypt’s cultural dominance and seamlessly aligning with Egypt Vision 2030.

The celebration will be attended by prominent leaders and decision-makers, including H.E. Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and H.E. Dr. Mohamed al-Doweiny, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al Sharif. It will also see the participation of influential figures from the educational, cultural, and sectors, in addition to media representatives.

The competition requires several criteria, including reading 30 books in various fields of knowledge, then summarizing them in the achievement blogs for the “Intellectual Student” dimension, or on the project’s website for the “Diamond Reader” and “Intellectual Teacher” dimensions. The total monetary value of the prizes that all winners receive is estimated at EGP 20 million, including all four competitions.

The National Reading Programme encompasses 4 main pillars: school students’ reading competition for the “Intellectual Student” title, university students’ reading competition for the “Diamond Reader” title, teachers’ reading competition for the “Intellectual Teacher” title, and special competition between community institutions for the “Enlightening Institution”.
